All-Electric Mazda 6e Receives 5-Star ANCAP Safety Rating
Five-star safety for Mazda's first all-electric sedan
Australia and New Zealand’s independent voice for vehicle safety, ANCAP, has awarded the maximum five-star ANCAP safety rating to the All-New, All-Electric Mazda 6e.
Reflective of Mazda’s commitment to safety, the Mazda 6e houses an unobtrusive yet intuitive driver monitoring system and is paired with a comprehensive suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, designed to keep occupants protected and support the driver across an array of everyday driving situations.
The All-Electric Mazda 6e scored an outstanding 93% for Adult Occupant Protection, with side impact and far side impact receiving maximum points. Child Occupant Protection also achieved a noteworthy 93%, achieving maximum points for restraint installation and dynamic testing on both front and side.
Commenting on the ANCAP result, National Manager of Product and Business Strategy, Daniel Wakelam, said: “We are extremely pleased that the Mazda 6e is backed by a five-star ANCAP safety rating – a significant endorsement of the engineering and technology that has gone into developing our first mainstream electric sedan.
“Customers can confidently make the transition to electric vehicles, knowing that the Mazda 6e delivers award winning design, engaging driving dynamics and the utmost safety they have come to expect from the brand,” he added.
The five-star rating is applicable to both the GT and Atenza grades thanks to the standard inclusion of nine airbags, Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assistance, emergency lane keeping, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, driver monitoring and traffic sign recognition.
